CTEV / Clubfoot: Assessment, Treatment & Recovery

CTEV (clubfoot) is a congenital foot position deformity. Early assessment helps plan treatment based on the child’s age, foot flexibility and previous treatment.

What we assess and consider

Pediatric orthopaedic assessment; treatment may include serial casting and bracing, with procedures considered in selected cases; regular follow-up supports correction and monitoring.

Common reasons for assessment

  • Foot turned inward or downward from birth
  • Difficulty fitting shoes or positioning the foot
  • Recurrence or stiffness after previous treatment
Recovery and next steps: Caregivers are shown how to follow the prescribed brace and follow-up plan. Do not adjust casting or bracing without the treating team’s advice. Treatment decisions are made after an individual clinical assessment; not every patient needs surgery.
